Seeing
technology in action!
Giving Canadian
executives a chance to see how others meets
manufacturing challenges is the goal behind the
Technology Visits Program, sponsored by Canadian
Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) and the National
Research Council - Industrial Research
Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP).
It leads to a
solid understanding and a rapid application of
new learning. That's what the Technology
Visits Program is all about.
If your company
is looking to increase production, reduce costs,
improve quality or get products to market
faster, TVP provides unique opportunities to
visit other manufacturers who are already using
innovative techniques and processes.
Since its
launch in 1994, over 10,000 senior level
executives have visited host plants across the
country.
The program is
open to anyone who directly influences
manufacturing policy and processes in their
company, providing they are not direct
competitors of the Host company. The tours
generally take about a half-day.
The variety of
participating plants allows visitors to see
everything from the latest in cellular
manufacturing, lasers, robotics, and Lean
Manufacturing to new team-based production
techniques. The technology is discussed
and described in terms of how it fits into
production schedules, inventory control, order
shipments and other manufacturing concerns.
